Aortic Aneurysm Repair Cost in Singapore

What determines the quote for EVAR or open repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm, the Ministry of Health fee benchmarks for the surgeon's fee, and how to get a written estimate.

Short answer: the cost of abdominal aortic aneurysm repair depends on your CT scan, whether EVAR or open repair suits your anatomy, the hospital, the anaesthesia and the length of stay. We do not publish a price list, because the right plan and the right hospital for you set the cost. Once your plan is clear, the clinic team gives you a written estimate and helps you check your cover. The Ministry of Health's fee benchmarks for the surgeon's fee are listed below for reference.

What determines your quote?

FactorHow it affects the cost
Your CT scanStandard EVAR generally needs a suitable sealing area below the kidney arteries. Angulation, narrowing, calcium or a short sealing segment may make a standard device unsuitable and call for a different repair.
MethodEVAR places a stent graft through the groin arteries using small incisions or punctures. Open repair replaces the aneurysm with a surgical graft through an abdominal incision.
AnaesthesiaAnaesthesia and the access method for EVAR depend on the procedure and your health. Open repair is performed under general anaesthesia.
Hospital stayHospital monitoring checks circulation, wounds, kidney function and general recovery. After open repair, monitoring in intensive or high-dependency care is usually part of early recovery.
Follow-upLong-term follow-up with scans is part of treatment after EVAR, and the graft and remaining aorta still need follow-up after open repair.

A smaller, stable aneurysm may be better managed with surveillance and cardiovascular risk treatment than with repair. The EVAR versus open repair guide explains how the choice is made.

MOH fee benchmarks for surgeon fees: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair

Singapore's Ministry of Health publishes fee benchmarks: recommended ranges for the surgeon's fee in the private sector. They cover the surgeon's fee only, not the hospital, anaesthetist, stent graft or other devices. Source: Ministry of Health, Hospital Bills and Fee Benchmarks (moh.gov.sg), figures checked on moh.gov.sg on 2 November 2026.

Procedure (MOH description and code)MOH surgeon-fee benchmark, inclusive of GST
Abdominal aortic aneurysm, endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) (SD837A)S$10,137 to S$16,023
Abdominal aortic aneurysm, excision and insertion of graft (open repair) (SD800A)S$17,113 to S$28,558

These are MOH's recommended ranges for routine cases in private hospitals, inclusive of GST, and are not Andrew Choong Vascular Surgery's fees.

MOH notes that the higher end of the range may be associated with more complex cases. Aneurysms in the chest, near the kidney arteries or involving branch arteries have their own MOH codes. Your written estimate states the procedure code and each fee that applies to your plan.

Insurance

Our fees are governed by the insurance panels and schemes we participate in, and we comply with every panel's fee guidelines. The clinic team helps you check panel eligibility and any pre-authorisation your insurer requires. Please confirm eligibility with your insurer and our clinic before treatment. See insurance and payment.

How do I get a written estimate?

  1. Book a consultation and bring your scan images and reports.
  2. Dr Choong explains the findings, whether repair or surveillance is advisable and, if repair, which method suits your anatomy and why.
  3. Once your treatment plan is clear, the clinic team gives you a written estimate. Ask what it includes: surgeon and anaesthetist fees, hospital charges, devices, tests and follow-up.

Common questions

Why is there no single price for aneurysm repair?

The cost depends on your scan, the repair method, the hospital, the anaesthesia and the length of stay. The figure that matters is the written estimate you receive once your plan is clear.

Are the MOH benchmarks the clinic's fees?

No. They are the Ministry of Health's recommended ranges for the surgeon's fee in routine private-sector cases. They do not include hospital, anaesthetist or device charges.

Does follow-up after EVAR cost extra?

Long-term follow-up with scans is part of treatment after EVAR. Ask for follow-up to be included in your written estimate. See aortic stent surveillance.
