What modern vascular surgical treatment has done is that we've moved forward from just giving anticoagulation and blood thinners to sometimes giving clot-busting medication to break up the clot. But even more recently, we've got catheters which are essentially vacuum cleaners that go inside the pipes, and we can suck the clot out. […]
We can do that in the lungs. We can stick a catheter up the groin, go all the way into the lung arteries and suck out the clot there.
